2021

Stoneware ceramic

21H × 29W × 9D cm

Guide price: £500-700

The Syrian sculptor, Zahed Taj-Eddin is a polymath, an artist, archaeologist and scientist whose sculptural practice operates across many disciplines. His fascination with ancient technology led him to study and practice a variety of specialities including ceramics, glass making and metal casting alongside working as a conservator of ancient artefacts. He has degrees in Chemistry, Fine Art, an MA in Archaeology and PhD in Archaeological Science and Sculptural Practice. This multi-disciplinary expertise comes together to inform Zahed’s artwork, which often employs ancient techniques and materials to explore contemporary social and political issues with meticulous craftsmanship and precise scientific methods.

Terms and Conditions: Please note all works will be available for collection from Wednesday 17 November 2021 at Freedom from Torture offices, 111 Isledon Road, London N7 7JW. The artwork will be safely stored, free of charge until Friday 17 December 2021. Alternatively, Freedom from Torture can help organise national and international delivery of artworks through a third party, to the winner. The winning bidder will be responsible for all delivery costs and will be invoiced directly by the third party.
