Guide Price: £1,000

Tyga Helme is a painter and printmaker with drawing lying at the heart of her practice. She uses the directness and urgency of drawing from life as a springboard for all her work. She explores the feeling of being overwhelmed through her drawing, finding her subjects in the spaces of transition and in the sublime. She couples the spontaneity of the moment with returning to places over and over again, allowing memory and imagination to permeate. Tyga studied Fine Art and History of Art at The University of Edinburgh, graduating in 2012. She was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Drawing School in London and was awarded the Machin Foundation Prize on graduation. She has been granted artist residencies at Dumfries House in Ayrshire and Borgo Pignano In Italy. She was the artist in residence at Sevenoaks School and has completed a teaching residency at the International Institute of Fine Arts, Modinigar in India. She has exhibited widely since graduating, including at the Fleming Collection in London and Christies in New York. Tyga had a sell out show at Blue Shop Cottage in 2020.
