Edward wanted to paint as a career but was encouraged to study science. By 1997 he could no longer ignore the creative impulse, so he started painting in his spare time. His works are based on realism. Life is what inspires the work he creates, because he wakes up every morning and feels the reason to be alive is to paint, “else what am I doing here?” He moved to London from Ghana and lived there for fourteen years. In 2009, he was awarded runner up in the Artist of the year award. He also got a scholarship to study at the Hampstead School of Art. He has taught iPad painting workshops at the Apple Store, the V&A museum, the Queen’s gallery and Buckingham Palace, and he has also participated in the Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year 2014 and 2017. In 2018, he was deported from the UK to Ghana. Despite this, he is enjoying his new life and home and its impact on his work.
